 is a Content Management System (CMS) designed for schools to easily create and maintain their school website without the need for web developers. It has different access levels to allow both staff and students to safely add content to the website. The basic package allows schools to add, edit & delete pages and content to their website as simply as filling in boxes and clicking buttons. There are also a variety of additional options (i.e. user management, polling, advertisements, events calendar etc…) depending on each school’s requirements.
An example of how can be utilised efficiently for the basketball section of the site:
- A staff member is assigned overall responsibility for the website. They should have relatively little to do, other than monitor the site.
- Each basketball team (e.g. age group) have a section of the site, this could be monitored by the staff member managing the team. This staff member would approve any articles written by students.
- The captain or any member of the team would be given the responsibility for writing a short article regarding any matches, training, fundraising etc…, the student member can create articles but the manager (staff member) must approve all student articles to ensure safe content is submitted to the website.
This structure spreads the work of maintaining the website and creating a content rich site for schools, engendering a sense of ownership amongst the staff and student body alike while minimising the additional work on any one individual. Other possibilities could include assigning a TYO class project to gather school information (i.e. musicals, debating, sports etc…) and create a school website that adequately captures the extra curricular activities no print media can convey to parents and the wider community, an invaluable marketing tool. |
